Getting some summer sun and having grandparent fun....

We finally got to pull out the swimming pool and enjoy the weather, and although it was a little confusing to be in the water outside -Owen only took a brief pause before going right to playing and splashing about.Owen also finally started crawling-more of a army crawl, but it gets him around pretty quickly nontheless. And he officially has a first word..uh-oh! JW and I kinda fear what it means for the future when your child starts out saying uh-oh, especially since nothing seems to faze Owen the least bit...not diving headfirst off the bed, swimming in a big pool...nothing-so bring it on world!

Also Owen had a great visit from Memaw and Johnny and in turn got to go to Abilene to visit them and then Papa Earl and Ganny Kim. He spent his first night at Papa Earls and was one wore out little boy by the time the weekend was over, visiting grandparents can sure be hard work, but so much fun!!

- The history of our grandparents is remembered not with rose petals but in the laughter and tears of their children and their children's children. It is into us that the lives of grandparents have gone. It is in us that their history becomes a future. ~Charles and Ann Morse

Growin' Owen

We have our first tooth!Mommy' s not quite sure how to react, I can't believe we've already passed the 6 month mark and now we have a tooth. Not to mention that he's sitting up on his own and is very mobile (not quite crawling, but he gets around!). We bought him a swing, and a little swimming pool in preparation for the warm weather approaching, and have been taking frequents strolls around the block in the evenings- which Owen loves! Last month we helped Papa party on his 80th birthday, hung out with his friend Ava a time or two, had a visit from Memaw and Johnny, and celebrated our very first Easter. Owen was so cute in his little church clothes, no Easter eggs this year but he did get several stuffed bunnies from Nana, Memaw, and a basket from Joyce!

This next month will be super busy...Aunt Kelcy and Uncle Wade are getting married next weekend, then Owen will be with Nana and Pop for a week while we go to Houston for the oil show...and hopefully we can make a trip to Abilene to see all the family there before long.
Among the many activities planned we are house shopping....haven't found anything yet but hopefully we will soon. Definitely need plenty of room for Owen and pumpkin to run and play.
Maybe we will find one soon and then he can invite his friend Ava over to have a pool party at his new house!!

Waiting on spring

Spring is almost here and boy are we ready. This last Sunday Owen finally got to spend some good time outside while daddy did some yard work....it was a beautiful day and he took in all the sights and sounds with awe! As for our milestone accomplishments, we have now mastered rolling over both ways so whenever you lay him down theres no telling where he'll end up, and its easy to see that his crawling days are just around the corner-poor Pumpkin!!! Along with being a wiggle worm, his newest obsession is his feet- mommy had no idea that socks and toes could be that tasty. Over the next few months theres going to be quite a few changes for us- Aunt Kelcy and Uncle Wades wedding is fast approaching, and Owens friend Ava has moved to Brownwood so there will be lots of fun playdates to look forward to. In fact pretty soon it will be warm enough for mommy and daddy to buy him a small swimming pool for some summer fun....

NFL OR BUST!

Look out NFL here we come!!Poor Owen has a pretty good cough, so mommy decided to take him to the doctor friday and see what was up...... To our suprise "little" Mr.Owen weighed in at 18.5 and 26 inches. He is literally off the growth chart in weight and at 95% in height. The doctor said he is where most kids are at 8 months, and that in his years in Brownwood Owen comes in at the second biggest he's seen at this age! So now we just have to decide which team he needs to try out for?!?!

Owen's 1st Christmas

Santa Claus has come and gone and Owen did pretty good for his first Christmas...of course I guess its hard to be bad when you've only been around for three months! There were lots of toys from grandparents and hugs and kisses as we made the rounds for Christmas, and he gave Santa a run for his money on the "bowl full of jelly" belly when he laughed.Yes, a full blown laugh to go with that awesome smile! That is the best Christmas present a parent could ever ask for.....

Now as we wind down on 2008 and all the wonderful events it has held we're looking forward to the adventures that 2009 will bring us as we take this everchanging journey down parenthood. We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and wish you an awesome 2009!

Christmas cheer is in the air.....

Well its time for another update and a lot has happened in the last few weeks. His first Thanksgiving went very well,we spent a quite day at home and I cooked a nice little dinner for us three . The next weekend J.W. had planned a awesome little getaway in Fredricksburg for us as a birthday present to me, so Owen had his first "weekend" stay at nana and pop's. J.W. and I had a great time shopping, visited a winery or two, and stayed in the cutest little cabin from the 1800's.In all it was a great birthday weekend and it was kinda nice to have some one on one again, but I did miss my little man like crazy.

Other than that, we had our first set of shots this last week and took it relativly well-the doctor says before long we can start giving him a few veggies once a day. Owen weighed in at 15.4 and was 24 1/2 inches long. He's still working so hard on his laughing, but he's got that melt your heart smile down to a T. Yesterday he seem to have realized that he has a voice and can talk....because from about 5 o'clock on last night that is all he did, and obviously whatever he was jabbering about was of the utmost importance and demanded our full attention!!I can't belive Christmas is a week and a half away-the shopping is nearly done and we managed not to go crazy buying up the stores for Owen. I'm excited to get up on Christmas morning and enjoy the two biggest blessings of my life......this year will be the best Christmas we've ever had and I hope everyones is as bright and joyful as ours will be......Merry Christmas to you all!!!!

Crash course in motherhood 101

Well Owen finally made it at 6:24pm on Sept. 30 weighing in at 8 pd 15 oz. and 21 3/4 long.....yeah, suprise to mommy! Everything went well though and now we have survived the first week at home. Motherhood is proving to be an awesome and exhausting journey.....but its amazing (no matter that its normally 2:30 in the morning and your running off of two hours sleep, with a pounding headache) the love you feel for your child is unbelievable, it can't be beat. We've learned that boys love to pee when changing a diaper-regardless of whether you keep them covered or not, that just because it sounds like he;s finished dirtying his diaper doesn't mean he hasn't saved a little for the fresh one you just put on, and that socks are destined to get stuck in poo if they are left on while changing. He's already so alert and trying to hold his head up and wiggle around as much as possible, I'm begining to realize that as soon as I blink he's going to be 18. Its taking a lot of adjusting on both mine and JW's parts but we wouldn't trade it for anything. I'll do my best to update and keep pictures posted for everyone.....time permitting
